How much does a nose piercing cost?

A nose piercing is a great way to upgrade your look in a subtle but distinct way. It ranks somewhere between coloring your hair or getting a tattoo. There are many types of nose piercing. Like a delicate nostril stu, some add a touch of sparkle, while others, like bold septum rings, turn heads. As with all major ventures, it is important to consider the cost of a nose piercing.

The truth is that the answer may not be so simple. Although there is some commitment to the aftercare process, it’s worth it for the fun of a body piercing. There are many options for nose jewelry. You can choose from various finishes, shapes, materials, and styles. This piece of body art is easily customizable. You can choose something classic and elegant one day and switch it to something fashionable the next. When (or if!) you’re ready to get rid of the jewelry, it’s easy to swap out for something more trendy and modern. You can take the jewelry off and get your nose pierced if you feel you are done with it.

It’s difficult to determine the exact cost of nose piercing. Many variables can cause costs to vary quite a lot. Bustle spoke to Cassi Lopez March, the owner and chief piercer of So Gold Studios, New York, to help understand all this.

The Nose Piercing Price

As with all piercings, the cost for a nose piercing varies between the actual act and the jewelry. Lopez-March says that the jewelry can drive up the price. The cost of the nose piercing is generally $30-60. Prices can rise depending on whether the studio is reputable and experienced, as well as the complexity of the piercing, such as a rhino piercing. All piercings at Lopez-March’s So Gold Studios, Brooklyn, NY, cost $40, including jewelry. She also shares that the classic nostril stud is the most popular type. She tells Bustle, “That will always look in style.”

The Jewelry Cost

Your jewelry choices will be limited when you first have your nose pierced. This is due to the nature and complexity of the procedure. A piercing can technically be considered a bodily puncture wound. It is important to follow your piercer’s instructions. Lopez-March says that most people who have their nostrils pierced want to wear rings and hoop-style jewelry, but they need to first use studs to allow the piercings to heal. She tells Bustle that rings can cause healing to be very difficult so we don’t recommend starting them with rings.

The studs are a high-quality, threadless piece of jewelry that can be worn in your ears. However, it is best to wait several months for the healing process. There are many options once you have permission to wear any type of jewelry. Lopez-March states that standard implant-grade jewelry starts at $40, but gold and fancy gemstone pieces can easily go up to $500,000. It all depends on what you like!

The Aftercare Cost

After you have paid your studio fees and purchased your jewelry, the cost of your investment is done. Lopez-March suggests that you stick to the “less is more” philosophy, and not to buy fancy healing balms or piercing-specific products. She says a good rinse in the bathtub will suffice. A standard sterile wound wash is recommended for those who feel their piercings need more attention. This staple can be purchased at most drugstores for $5. Lopez-March says that the ideal thing is to just irrigate the area, and let your body do its work.
